ModularPlastik at the 2025 London Design Biennale

A month-long celebration of ideas, materials, and design with impact

5-29th June | Somerset House, Strand, London WC2R 1LA, UK.

We’re excited to share that ModularPlastik is proudly attending the 2025 London Design Biennale, a globally celebrated event that transforms Somerset House into a hub of innovation, storytelling, and international creativity.

What is the London Design Biennale?

Held every two years, the London Design Biennale brings together designers, thinkers, makers, and change agents from over 50 countries and territories. Each nation presents a pavilion, responding to a central theme, in 2025, the focus is on “Surface Reflections” From large-scale installations to intimate materials research, the Biennale is a space where design becomes dialogue. It’s not just about aesthetics; it’s about systems, sustainability, and shaping how we live and build.

Who’s attending?

The Biennale features an incredible mix of designers, architects, collectives, and cultural institutions from national delegations to independent studios and emerging voices in design. Each contribution brings forward local challenges and global ideas, tackling urgent issues like climate change, material waste, circularity, and social cohesion.

What’s our motivation in the biennale?

ModularPlastik exists at the intersection of recycled material innovation and circular product design. Being present at the London Design Biennale means standing among the world’s most forward-thinking design minds and amplifying the message that waste is not the end of a material's life, but the beginning of a new one.

While we didn’t exhibit a pavilion this time, we were on-site to meet like-minded collaborators, explore the newest experimental work in material design, and share ModularPlastik’s story. Armed with our signature recycled plastic samples and mission cards, we connected with designers, curators, and material-led thinkers across the Biennale. We were especially inspired by the creative reimaginings of plastic, concrete, wood, and bio-based materials and saw how our own approach to modularity and reuse can plug into larger global efforts.

What’s next?

We’ll be sharing more snapshots, thoughts, and ideas throughout the month on our Instagram and beyond. Our time at the Biennale is not just a visit it’s a commitment. A chance to keep learning, building, and pushing the boundaries of what sustainable material design can look like. If you’re in London this June, come find us. Let’s talk about sustainability. Let’s talk about the possibilities of change.

This year’s exhibitors span architecture, interiors, furniture, technology, and product design, all unified by a commitment to material intelligence, sustainability, and creative innovation.
